First Touch Control: 20-Minute Drill
Your first touch can make or break your play. Start with 10 minutes of wall passes: stand 5 meters from a wall, pass the ball, and control it on the rebound using your instep, outside of the foot, or sole. Alternate feet with every touch. Next, perform the “first-touch triangle drill”: set up 3 cones in a triangle and pass the ball around them, controlling it with one touch before passing again. Spend the last 5 minutes working with a partner, having them pass the ball to you from different angles and speeds. Your goal is to keep the ball within 1 meter of your body after every touch.
